The Hardwood Lookout Trail is a short 1km loop that takes you through a typical Algonquin hardwood forest and culminates in a breathtaking view of Smoke Lake and the surrounding maple hills. We did this trail after the challenging Mizzy Lake trail and were very happy we didn’t let a little thing like fatigue stop us from experiencing the scenic lookout. It’s rated “moderate” due to the steep incline of the trail, but the path is well-maintained and it was virtually mosquito free! This is a great place for a picnic and will be a fantastic spot to view the fall colours.
