Best Gluten-Free Black Bean Brownies

I used to make black bean brownies quite often but I would add protein powder into the batter and use bananas to sweeten them instead of brown sugar.  When every macro counts, and it’s crunch time to reach your goal, you put up with odd textures in your baking. But nowadays if I’m craving healthy brownies I actually want to feel like I’m eating a delicious cheat-day treat and these brownies deliver! They’re rich, decadent and taste even better than regular brownies. Give them a try and I guarantee  that you’ll be shocked they were made with black beans!

  • 1 can of Black Beans (540ml) 
  • 1 cup diced Avocado chunks
  • 1 Tbsp Avocado Oil
  • 2 Eggs or Flax Eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 2 tsp Peanut Butter 
  • 3/4 cup Cocoa Powder
  • 3/4 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Baking Soda
  • A pinch of Salt
  • 1 Tbsp Espresso Powder
  • 1/2 cup Chocolate Chips


  1.  Preheat oven to 350
  2. Grease pan
  3. Blend Black Beans, Avocado chunks, Eggs, Avocado Oil, Peanut Butter and Vanilla together to a fairly smooth consistency and add to mixing bowl
  4. Add Espresso Powder, Baking Powder, Baking Soda, Salt, Cocoa Powder and Brown Sugar and whisk well to combine
  5. Mix in all of the chocolate chips or save some for the top if desired 
  6. Add batter to greased pan and sprinkle with chocolate chips if desired 
  7. Bake for 30-35 mins or until toothpick comes out clean from center
